Learning for Life, is a Charity that provides of education and social care for learners 16 years plus, with a range of special needs and disabilities. We have recently joined DBN and look forward to working with you all.
We provide a stimulating, safe and innovative learning for young people and adults with a diverse range of learning, emotional, behavioural and physical disabilities. Our ethos is to provide a personalised approach to learning which encourages: building confidence, enabling communication, fulfilling aspirations, and promoting individual choice.
Additionally, an important part of our role is to increase employment opportunities for people who attend our provision. We currently enrich learners’ experiences through the management of Oasis for Life Café at Citizens House, Consett. The project has proved to be a highly positive endeavour, boasting many happy customers whilst providing rewarding employability experiences for our learners. You would be welcome to come along, see what we do, taste the culinary delights and spread the word!
As well as working in a flourishing Café, one learner gains valuable experience at Lycetts Insurance Broker in Newcastle. The initiative represents yet another example of how Learning for Life College is leading the way in creating employment opportunities for its learners. We have an exciting year ahead; we are currently looking at a premises in Newcastle (that needs a great deal of TLC and a lottery bid!) to expand our provision.
