People frequently offer me unwanted bits of furniture and wooden offcuts. It’s not easy for a craft carpenter to say no when there’s wood going begging, so my workshop can get quite full!
Finding inventive ways of repurposing something that’s no longer needed is a challenge that I love. I’ve been upcycling furniture for years now and it’s amazing what a lick of paint can do.
However, my latest project has been slightly different . . . a set of 13 oak stair treads that were no longer needed.
My brain went into overdrive and the result is a series of side tables, each with its own unique features and character - whether that’s a colourful resin inlay or contrasting butterfly joints.
