APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED: PUBLIC REPRESENTATIVES WANTED!

Are you looking for a new volunteering challenge?  Would you like to help the Derwent Valley Partnership (DVP) identify local issues, develop projects to help tackle these and have a say in where our funding is spent?

If ‘yes’, the DVP will soon have seven public rep vacancies on its Board.  This exciting opportunity is open to anyone aged 16+ who lives, works, studies or volunteers in our area.  Applicants must have a keen interest in their community, and a desire to take part in our local partnership who have successfully delivered over 600 projects throughout Derwent Valley since 2009.

Our public reps must attend six Board meetings a year and ideally join one of our Task Groups who aim to address local priorities.  The role is about sharing valuable knowledge and being passionate about your community - helping to make a difference in our area.

Our current public reps have shared some of their thoughts of their time with us:

‘I have thoroughly enjoyed being a public rep. For me, finding out about so many organisations locally that deliver such wonderful work has been a great learning experience…so energising and fulfilling’.

‘Thank you for letting be a part of this…this has made me feel part of my community…I’d like to be a public rep again!’.

‘I’ve enjoyed engaging with some old faces and some new faces at these meetings’.

The closing date for applications is Monday, 21st March 2022.

If you would like to find out more, or request a Public Rep Application Pack, please contact the DVP Team at: dvaap@durham.gov.uk or you can telephone us on: 07818 510 365.
