Don’t fall victim to phishing attacks
Bowe Digital recently published an article on how to avoid becoming a victim of phishing attacks and we highly recommend it. Just click here to get redirected.
Phishing is a form of cyber attack where attackers attempt to trick users into doing ‘the wrong thing’, such as clicking a bad link that will download malware, or direct you to a website which may look identical to the original website, but may harbour spyware or be designed to collect your personal or financial information.
We were delighted to have Lorraine McGill of Bowe Digital at our DBN meeting this month to share top tips to protect your business online and how to keep it cyber-safe. Key points from Lorraine:
- Passwords - key to all our date; review all of them; use unique passwords for all logins
- Make sure that a website address starts "https://" - shows that the website is secure
- Use a password manager for extra protection, e.g. LastPass, Dashlane, NordPass (some of these offer a free version)
- Use anti-virus - keep updated
- Use anti-spam - keep updated
- Keep all software up to date
- Dato - back up to the Cloud
- Check if your email address is in a data breach here
