Where there's a will, there's a mountain of work for the executor!
Acting as an executor of a parent's will is not a task to be undertaken lightly - some might say it is not a job to give to your favourite child. It can involve a lot of work!
Sorting out property, money, possessions and debts usually takes several months. Executors must be meticulous and, even if they have the best intentions, they can be held personally liable for the consequences of any mistakes that are made.
When drawing up your Will think carefully as to who you would like to appoint to this role - it is not always an honour to be chosen.
