Exciting times for Learning for Life as we expand our services into Newcastle. The charity is working with the local authority and other providers to facilitate education, social care and lots more for people of all ages with special needs, disabilities and difficulties.
The CIC ‘Igniting Lives’ aims to use the former Scotswood Play Centre in Newcastle, to provide a range of services and activities for those with disabilities and difficulties, from education, social care, respite, transport, employability skills, independent living training to community activities, friendship building, sports, health and well-being, residential activities, social activities, gardening and outdoor activities and lots more!
This aims to be a place where people feel safe, secure, cared about but most importantly they will feel positive, valued and happy when they are developing their skills and changing their lives! It is about people realising their aspirations and thinking about what they ‘can do’ instead of what they can’t! We will help people achieve! We are at the very early stages but if we secure the premises we will need:
- Builders
- Plumbers
- Electricians
- Painters and decorators
- Soft furnishings
- Specialist equipment
- Sensory equipment and lots more......
We aim to apply for funding for this so this will progress in ‘baby steps’ but we have very exciting times ahead! If you can help in any way please contact Marie Matthewson on 07743 189 302.
